Report review is the bottleneck before the certification decision.
The BRCGS Global Standard Food Safety is recognized by the GFSI and the bodies are accredited under ISO/IEC 17065, which is product certification. Before the decision, a competent person, not involved in the audit, reviews the audit and its report, with annual recertification. The review must confirm the HACCP food safety plan follows the Codex, that the fundamental requirements are evidenced, that food safety culture is demonstrated and that the AA to D grade is defensible against the number and type of nonconformities, coherent with the audit protocol, announced or unannounced, and with the scheme reporting rules.

What certification bodies ask about BRCGS report review
- Who can review a BRCGS audit report before the certification decision?
- A competent person who was not involved in the audit. It is a scheme requirement, and it is exactly the step foraudits speeds up: the review is still made and signed by that person, with the analysis against the standard already prepared.
- How is the AA to D grade assigned?
- From the number and type of nonconformities found and whether the audit was announced or unannounced. The grade has to be consistent with the audit protocol and the scheme's reporting rules, which is what the review checks.
- Which issue of the Global Standard Food Safety is used?
- Issue 9, the current version of the scheme. That is the version the report is checked against.
- Does the HACCP plan have to follow Codex Alimentarius?
- Yes. The review checks that the food safety plan follows Codex, that the fundamental requirements are evidenced, and that food safety culture is demonstrated.
- Does foraudits issue BRCGS certificates?
- No. foraudits is not a certification body and is not accredited to certify. It reviews the report against the standard and returns the analysis; the certification decision and the signature always stay with the body.
